Người Dơi càng ngày càng dấn thân vào cuộc chiến chống tội ác đầy nguy hiểm. Với sự trợ giúp của trung uý Jim Gordon và Luật sư Harvey Dent, Người Dơi đã phá tan những tổ chức tội phạm còn nhũng nhiễu thành phố Gotham. Tuy nhiên, Người Dơi cùng các cộng sự nhanh chóng phát hiện ra bản thân họ chính là con mồi của một tên trùm tội phạm thông minh mang tên The Joker.

The Dark Knight được coi là phần tiếp theo của quả bom tấn Batman Begins.
