Bộ phim hành động, kinh dị, giả tưởng City Under Siege của đạo diễn Trần Mộc Thắng đã gây ra sự chú ý mạnh mẽ của khán giả điện ảnh từ lúc vừa khai máy, không những vì đây là bộ phim có kinh phí đầu tư khổng lồ lên đến 100 triệu tệ, cùng sự tham gia của dàn diễn viên sáng giá của điện ảnh Trung Quốc như Quách Phú Thành, Thư Kỳ, Ngô Kinh, Trương Tịnh Sơ, Trâu Triệu Long… mà còn vì nó được coi là phiên bản Trung Quốc của bộ phim nổi tiếng Wolverine (Người sói).

Trong phim, Quách Phú Thành vào vai một anh hề làm việc tại rạp xiếc trong thành phố, trong khi đi săn kho báu trên núi, anh vô tình hít phải khí độc của một chất hóa học của quân đội còn lưu giữ lại từ Thế chiến thứ II. Chất độc đó đã biến anh ta thành một người khổng lồ, một quái nhân bị đột biến gen với sức mạnh phi thường (giống như Người sói trong phim X-Men Origins: Wolverine). Không làm mọi người phải sợ hãi, Quách Phú Thành quyết tâm giành lại lòng tin của mọi người trong thành phố khi tuyên chiến chống lại những người trong đoàn xiếc, họ cũng bị biến đổi thành dị nhân trong tại nạn này và tham gia vào băng nhóm tội phạm.

Plot: Sunny is the orphaned child of a former knife throwing master. After his father’s death, he is taken in by his uncle, who allows him to perform as a clown, due to the fact that he has not apparently inherited the skills of his father; nevertheless, Sunny still has the wish to perform knife throwing.
He is ridiculed and tormented by the children of his uncle, who are all skilled performers in his uncle’s troupe. One day, Sunny stumbles upon the plan of the rest of the troupe to explore a cave rumored to be filled with gold. Instead of killing Sunny, they decide to use him as point for their exploration of the cave. They find crates filled with capsules, and force Sunny to open them. Inside the first are numerous plates of gold. They then try to kill Sunny, and continue opening the rest of the capsules. These contain experimental gas which transform them into superhuman monsters.
